Let’s face it, most appliances these days won’t last beyond a few years – much less a lifetime. And when they bite the dust, we’re often left wondering how to dispose of them.

We have an old washing machine sitting in our stock room. I’ve been meaning to throw it away. Turns out it was a blessing in disguise that I never got around to doing so. I came across a brilliant do-it-yourself project. It involved turning an old washing machine drum into a lamp.

If you have an old washing machine that’s already useless, try this project out. You’ll only need the drum part, the rest you can put away as scrap. In this project, you’ll have to put your dismantling skills to practice.

The finished product is worth your time and effort. The silhouettes and shadows reflected on the walls are stunning. You’ll be happy you learned how to turn a washing machine drum into a lamp.
