Donât you just hate it when you canât find the right lid for a pot? Whether itâs because you donât have a proper storage solution for pot lids, or because your kitchen is just disorganized, here are a couple of simple, inexpensive solutions!
These DIY pot lid organizers will save you time and avoid the frustration of trying to find the right lid for the pan youâre using. It will also allow you to organize your pot lids and keep them in a place that is easy to access.
There are two methods shown here. Both are very easy to do and use simple materials. The first one is made from sticky hooks and the other uses a repurposed towel rack. Why didnât we think of that!
Want to keep your pot lids organized and accessible? Then this solution is for you!

Materials:
- Sticky Hooks
- Pencil
or
- Velcro
- Towel Rack
- Mounts
Tools:
- Drill
- Hacksaw
Steps:
Hold up your selection of pan lids against the cupboard door. Things you may want to consider are whether the bottom one will stick out too far into your cupboard and interfere with objects sitting on the bottom shelf. Position it high enough that it won’t do this.
When you think you’ve got a good layout, hold a pan lid up against the cupboard door and draw a mark in pencil at 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock. If you draw them too close to 3 and 9 it will fall out, if you draw them too close to 5 and 7 it might not be so stable.
Peel the tabs off the stick pad and slap the hooks on the door with the hooks pointing to the approximate center of where the pan will be. No need to be too precise here.
We’re done. It’s that simple!
Here’s another idea:
My racks wouldn’t fit on my cabinets – so I took my hacksaw to them to remove a bit of material. These racks are made of two interlocking channels that can extend outward.
Measure twice, cut once… or in my case – guesstimate, cut twice, fit on there, and cut one more time.
I attached some Velcro to the back of my fasteners – I can’t destroy this rented apartment too much.
Here’s something I learned awhile back in my engineering courses…..
When you apply a shear load, the stress will try to peel away from the top surface downward. This is why hooks and such have their screw mounts ABOVE the load rather than below or at the load point. So don’t be tempted to apply a small amount of Velcro – apply a bit above the load point. OR, screw into your cabinets – I would have if I could :)
Alternate Location:
Aren’t these beautiful ways to store pot lids? They look neat and perfect even when mounted on a wall, exposed. Now your kitchen would look and be more organized!
