Got a few wood picket fence pieces lying around your storage? Or perhaps you have one or two pallet timber slats left from a previous DIY project? Here’s a nice idea on what to do with those extra timber – skull decorations! And it’s perfect for the Halloween…
One skull is made from only one piece of timber slat. The example shown above measures around 18×12 inches, but of course the size may vary depending on the timber that you have.
You can make smaller versions so you can have more skulls with your scrap timber. This would however require a different kind of tool for creating smaller detailed cuts. On the other hand, you can build one really large version. This means that there would be more than three vertical timber slats to make up the skull. And it would also require reinforcements at the back so it will be one sturdy decor.
You can hang the small ones from a tree in your yard or like a wind chime on your front porch. The medium size would be perfect to hang on your front door. And if you decide to make a large one, you can simply place it in your yard to welcome treat-or-treaters!
Do you know someone with heaps of scrap timber who could use this idea?
