How to make an attractive planter from an old tire

Want a really big flower pot in your garden? Here’s one recycling project you might want to try… turn an old tire into an attractive planter!

Old Tire Planter

This tire recycling project may seem challenging but the idea is simple, and you can always get help from friends with the most difficult steps. You can also get smaller tires if you want -they’re easier to cut and form!

The secret to having a really attractive tire planter is in choosing the right colours to paint it with. You can paint it with really bright colours and draw some designs on it. But painting it with a more ‘serious’ colour would look good, too. It all depends on your taste!

While this planter may not be for all, it is definitely a good idea for giving non-biodegradable ‘trash’ a new purpose! There are around 300 million used tires changed every year in the USA alone. Extrapolated, that’s possibly more than a million tires a year! Vast numbers of these are dumped or go to landfill, hopefully after they’ve at least been shredded. When you find a way to upcycle a used tyre, you really are making a difference!
